VIRGINIA Water are now three matches without a win in the Hellenic Premier Division following their 3-2 defeat against Lydney Town at Stag Meadow on Saturday.

The Waters took the lead through a Jake Baker penalty, but Declan Morley-Lyne equalised for the visitors before the break.

A goal from Liam Whyte put the home side back in front after half-time, but both Jordi Sheen and Morley-Lyne scored inside the closing stages for Lydney, the winner coming in the third minute of time added on.

Virginia Water coach Richard Banks commented: "The best side won on the day, that said we're kicking ourselves for once again throwing away a lead late on and not coming away with anything.

"We're kicking ourselves because we should have three points having been in the lead with five minutes to go.

The defeat leaves Virginia Water in 15th position in the league table ahead of a trip to Longlevens this Saturday (3pm).

Banks said: "It's a massive game because if we can go there and get something it will pull us away from the bottom five and give us a little bit of breathing space.

"We've practically got most of the teams in this division still to play at home. If we can get something this weekend that will give us a little bit of confidence with so many home games to come."
