MAIDENHEAD United got their preparations for the new season in the National League under way after wins against both Bracknell Town and Ascot United on Saturday.

travelled to Larges Lane to take on his former assistant and now Bracknell manager Sam Lock.

The home side included ex-Maidenhead stars James Mulley, Daniel Brown and Lee Barney.

Maidenhead scored the only goal in the friendly match after 12 minutes when a trialist capitalised on a defensive lapse to stroke the loose ball past keeper Mark Scott.

Earlier the same day, the Magpies beat Ascot 3-2 at their Bisham Abbey training base.

Maidenhead continue their pre-season campaign with a friendly match against the Kuwait national team tonight (Tuesday, 7.45pm), before travelling to Hampton & Richmond Borough this Saturday (3pm).

Burnham are already well into their summer preparations ahead of a return to the Hellenic Premier Division and take on Berkhampstead in a friendly match on Saturday.

Holyport drew 3-3 with Cookham Dean in their first warm-up match on Sunday and host Windsor on Thursday (7.45pm).

Chalvey Sports drew 1-1 with Wraysbury in a friendly match on Saturday and take on Ascot United at Burnham Grammar School tonight (Tuesday 7.45pm).
