FOLLOWING a delay due to legal issues, Ascot United FC are expecting work to install the 3G pitch at the Racecourse Ground will start later this month.

It was in January when the Yellamen received planning consent from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council and two months later they secured the funding for the project.

Since then the club had to deal with a number of technical design and legal matters which have taken longer than expected to resolve.

However, the Combined Counties League newcomers say those issues have now been sorted and have agreed on a start date of June 24 with the contractors.

The facility should be ready for matches by the end of September, which means United will play several early-season fixtures away.

THERE is also good news for Wokingham & Emmbrook with floodlights being installed at their Lowther Road ground, and they were tested out at the club's presentation evening.

With a new stand to follow shortly, the Sumas will be allowed to continue playing in the Hellenic League Division One East.

The awards function last weekend saw young Josh Harris pick up two trophies after being voted the players' and supporters' player. Joe Cummuskey received the second highest number of votes among his teammates.

Conor Holland took home the manager's player of the season award with Jake White winning the top-scorer prize after netting 16 goals in 32 league appearances.

The Sumas will be up against new opponents next season as Kidlington Development have switched from Division One West.

Explaining the move, the league say it is a "better fit in terms of local football and travel time."

EVERSLEY & California can now start planning to play their first ever Combined Counties League match in the Channel Islands as they will be away to Division One newcomers Jersey Bulls on Saturday, September 21, two weeks after Bagshot make the trip.

The date for Sandhurst Town's visit to St Helier will be announced later.

Fixtures for the Bulls are announced early so visiting clubs can make travel arrangements.

There will be no need to buy a match ticket in advance as Springfield Stadium has a capacity of 7,000.
