Reading have announced a series of pre-season fixtures for the first, and youth, teams in the lead up to the start of the 2019/2020 campaign.

The team lost all six of their pre-season matches last summer; and had an equally miserable time during the season, finishing just seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Jose Gomes will be hoping for a stronger start as he embarks on his first full season in charge of the Royals.

The first team have announced just the one match so far, facing the visit of Europa League Champions Chelsea to the Madejski Stadium the week before the start of the Championship season (Sunday July 28).

Meanwhile the Under-23s have two games already lined up.

Both Salisbury City (Saturday July 6) and Olympiakos Under-19s (Saturday July 27) have been arranged.

The first-team squad will travel out to Estepona, Spain, on the July 7 for warm weather training and a selection of fixtures which are yet to be announced.

They will return on the July 21; the week before the match against the Stamford Bridge side.

Expect more to be revealed as the month progresses, and as the countdown to the new season draws ever closer.
