THE Holt and Reading Blue Coat were the highest points scorers in the respective girls and boys match in the opening week of the Reading and District Athletics League’s Under 14 competition at Palmer Park Stadium.

Wokingham’s girls outclassed their rivals, winning all but one of the 12 events to total 65 points. They were followed home on each occasion by Highdown apart from the 1,000 metres, where the placings were reversed.

In their match, Blue Coat boys won four events, but by picking up useful points in the minor placings their total of 61 points left them 10 clear of nearest challenges Bohunt.

By winning six events, Little Heath boys were the day’s biggest winners with their total of 57 points in match three leaving them 17 points clear of Denefield in second place with only six points splitting the other four teams.
