DESPITE the cold weather on Sunday, thirty-plus football teams turned out for the second of the Thames Valley Football Development League Festival of Football at Arbour Park.

In the Under 10s Vase final, Golden Eagles Flyers beat Boyne Hill Buccaneers 3-1, while Chalfont Saints won 2-0 over Windsor Owls Blues in the Plate.

The closest of the finals was the match between Chalfont Saints Spartans and Cookham Dean Dynamos. This game finished 1-1 and so went to penalty kicks. After an epic shoot-out, Chalfont won 6-5.

Langley FC Youth Blues U8s cruised to an 8-1 victory over Harefield United Reds in the Cup competition and Windsor Falcons Reds edged Burnham Juniors Cubs Blue 4-3 in the Plate.

In the Trophy , Chalfont Saints Leopards beat Windsor Falcons Whites 7-3 and Delaford Colts Reds won 4-1 against Harefield United Blacks in the Vase final.

The other U 8s then took part in a festival, each club playing two matches. There was some excellent football on display with the young players clearly relishing the opportunity to play on the Slough Town pitch.

The day wrapped up with the U13 Subsidiary Cup final between Cippenham FC and Golden Eagles, with Cippenham winning 4 - 2.

Cippenham enjoyed much of the early pressure in the match but it was Eagles who got on a scoresheet first. A cross into the Cippenham box was dropped by the keeper and an Eagles player was able to pounce and stroke the ball into the back of the net.

Cippenham continued to press and were unlucky not to score from a long range shot that beat the keeper but hit the post.

Eventually the relentless pressure paid off with a floated ball into the box from a Cippenham free kick that was headed into the Eagles goal.

Cippenham then took the lead late in the half from the penalty spot after a handball in the box.

In the second half Cippenham kept up the pressure and added two further goals. The first of these goals was easily the goal of the day, a curling shot from the edge of the penalty box that sailed into the top left corner of the Eagles goal.

Eagles scored a late goal from a penalty kick.
