A COUPLE from Newbury finally tied the knot as they held a Viking handfasting wedding in Slough.
Georgy and Reuben Collis, of Newbury, got married at The Emperor Pub, on Blackpond Lane, on Saturday, July 23.
Georgy and musician Reuben first met at the Wendy Woo Festival, in Wraysbury, back in 2018 where Reuben was playing at the event.
After having postponed their wedding from July 2021, around 80 guests attended on the day and Mrs Collis said it was “absolutely amazing”.
“The day was better than what we ever expected,” she said.
“There was lots of love and laughter, everything went to plan and a lot of our guests were so amazed to experience our Viking wedding.”

The pair had a ceremony which began with a one-hour-long traditional handfasting, which was conducted by celebrants Linda Kidd and Barrie Dorling.
Then the couple exchanged swords with each other, which symbolised the coming together of families.
Their hands were then tied together as they said their vows which was followed by a toast with mead.
And to finish, Georgy and Reuben jumped over a broom to signify the marriage has taken place.

Mrs Collis added: “I cannot thank The Emperor Pub and the general manager Ally enough for going over and above to put everything in place for us.
“The script for the ceremony that was written by our celebrant Linda was just beautiful, lots of our guests cried on the day.
“We didn’t want the wedding to end, it went so well and we just feel pure happiness right now.”
Ally Warren, general manager at The Emperor Pub, explained it was “very cool” to host the Viking wedding on site.
“Georgy and Reuben were such a lovely and relaxed couple and nothing was stressful on the day.
“It was just brilliant to be able to have the wedding at The Emperor Pub, we helped Georgy and Reuben decorate, and it was a great day.”
Celebrant Mrs Kidd added the whole day went perfectly well.
"Nothing went wrong and it was such a privelege to be a part of their special day," she said.
"It was fantastic food, great live music and the weather was lovely."
