CINDERELLA and Prince Charming will be starting the festive season in Sunderland next month.
The city’s mayor, Councillor David Snowdon, and the stars of the Sunderland Empire panto will be switching on the Christmas lights in Keel Square on Thursday, November 21.
Beginning at 6pm, and hosted by Sun FM favourites Simon Grundy and Lauren McLeish, the entertainment includes a school choir, music from Channy Thompson, a performance from the Spark! Drummers, and a fireworks display.
The Keel Square Ice Rink and Hadrian’s Tipi on Crowtree Road opens at noon that days with the Festival of Light in Mowbray Park starting at 4pm.
Cllr David Snowdon said: “It is a wonderful feel-good, family event.”
