MARATHON medals dedicated to a doctor by his brother have been stolen from a street sign for the third time.

The medals were placed at the Dr Grayson Way sign in Great Harwood by Criostoir Grayson.

Dr Robert Grayson died aged 45 in September 2015 and Criostoir has since left the medals at the street sign in his brother’s memory.

A Manchester Marathon medal won by Criostoir went missing from the street sign twice last year – only to be found nearby.

Now the same thing has happened again after the doctor's brother placed a second medal – won at this year's marathon – alongside the first.

Criostoir, who lives in Ireland, said: “I’m extremely saddened to be honest, and a bit angry that anyone could do this despicable act.

“I would like to think the culprits who did these acts see this article and realise the consequences of their actions, which have upset a huge amount of people who dearly loved our Rob and before doing anything like this again would stop and think twice."

Dr Grayson was principal partner at Great Harwood Medical Group and was a much-respected GP in the area.

Criostoir added: “Running has and still is helping me come to terms with the sudden loss of my brother.

“I carry a lock of his hair in a small container on each marathon I do and this is a great way of getting through the often difficult moments when running a marathon.

“He’s with me every step of the way.”

The medals were found once again, but will not be put back at the sign.

Criostoir hopes the medals can now be framed and placed in the doctor’s surgery.
