An 88-year-old care home resident took a journey back in time when visitors from British Airways paid a visit.

Former cabin crew supervisor Margaret Coates is a former cabin crew supervisor. She had already enjoyed a trip to British Airways Speedbird Centre earlier this year, organised as part of an initiative by Clara Court care home in Maidenhead where she lives.

Then the care home in Courthouse Road welcomed a visit from a British Airways team, who brought memorabilia, including old posters, which helped spark conversations and brought back many more memories for Margaret and all her fellow residents.

Debbie Winwood, home manager at Clara Court, said: “We had a fantastic afternoon reminiscing with the British Airways team. The airline’s creation is a historical milestone, and many residents have fond memories of this time, often associated with their first family holidays abroad, so it was a fantastic way to bring back positive memories.

“The visit was even more special for Margaret – it was incredible to hear so many stories from her time as a cabin crew supervisor. We’d like to say a big thank you to British Airways for their visit and for making the day so special.”

Residents and the British Airways team members took part in arts and crafts activities, including painting and gardening, and were treated to an afternoon tea specially prepared by Clara Court chefs.
