BURNHAM recorded back-to-back wins in Division Two of the Home Counties Premier League for the first time since the opening weeks of the season after a seven-wicket victory against Harefield on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.

recorded a first win in five weeks when

beating bottom side Dinton

last weekend and this most recent success sees them climb into the top half of the league table with fifth place.

The home side won the coin toss and elected to field first at The Memorial Ground, with Harefield reaching 217-9 in 58 overs.

Captain and number 10 Douglas King was the leading runs scorer with an unbeaten 62 from just 34 balls, including five boundaries and four maximum hits. It is the highest score of his career and a first half-century, leaving him with a new average for the summer of 43.67.

Matthew Ogden, batting at number three, made 54 from 108 balls with five boundaries and a maximum hit for his fourth half-century of the campaign and a new average of 43.13 this term.

The wickets were shared amongst the Burnham bowlers with the best of the attack being Raza Ali Dar with his figures of 3-43 from 17 overs.

Burnham reached 218-3 from 46.5 overs in response for a sixth win in 14 league matches this season.

Number four Raza Ali Dar top-scored with an unbeaten 83 runs from 120 balls, including nine boundaries and one maximum hit. It is his sixth half-century in an impressive season with the bat and gives him a new average for the summer of 59.40.

Karan Kumar, batting at number five, made 57* from just 55 balls with 10 boundaries for a first half-century of the summer and an average of 24.56.

Number three Shaan Khan made 53 runs from 87 balls with six boundaries. It is his second half-century of the campaign and gives him a new average of 41.67.

Khan and Ali Dar put on 115 runs for the third wicket, before an unbeaten fourth-wicket partnership of 86 between Ali Dar and Kumar.

Thomas Crick led the Harefield bowling from the front with his figures of 2-52 from 14 overs.

Burnham are now 31 points above the two relegation spots and make the short trip to Shardeloes to take on Bucks rivals Amersham this Saturday (11am start).

Cookham Dean ended a seven-match winless streak following an eight-wicket victory against Dinton last weekend.

The Dean had not won since the success over Harefield back in June but this most recent win sees them climb out of the two relegation spots.

Dinton won the coin toss and elected to bat first at Ricketts Field, with the visitors making 131 runs all out in 50 overs.

Captain and number four Will Fisher was the leading runs scorer with 46 from 107 balls including seven boundaries.

Sahan Nanayakkara was the destroyer-in-chief for the home team with figures of 5-45 from 15 overs, which included the wicket of tailender Leon Desai for a golden duck. It is the third time this season he has taken five wickets or more in a match and gives him a new average for the summer of 14.71.

Nanayakkara was ably supported by Wasim Ahmed with his figures of 3-16 from 13.5 overs.

Cookham reached 133-2 from 23.4 overs in response for a fourth win in 14 league matches this season, leaving them three points above Amersham and the two relegation spots.

Captain and opening batsman Ben Millar carried his bat through for an unbeaten 65 runs from 79 balls with 11 boundaries. It is the 20th half-century of his career and the first of the summer, giving him a new average of 18.67.

Tom Fray, batting at number four, made an unbeaten 30 from 28 balls and the pair made 60 runs in an unbroken partnership for the third wicket.

Desai was the best of the Dinton bowling attack with figures of 1-16 from 2.4 overs.
