POLICE have stopped 22 vans on the road in a bid to tackle criminal use.
On Tuesday, August 6, officers from Hyndburn's Neighbourhood Policing Team, the Tactical Operations Division and the Stolen Vehicle Unit conducted an operation across Hyndburn.
A spokesman for Hyndburn Police, said: "We have been working together with VOSA, HMRC and Environment Agency, targeting all makes of vans and taking them to a check-site in Oswaldtwistle.
"We are determined to tackle the issue of vans/tools being stolen and the criminal use of these vehicles and this pro-active operation today is a very visible way of keeping law abiding road users safe and sending a clear message to offenders that they are being targeted."
A total of 22 vehicles were stopped and checked throughout the day, which resulted in six offences being found, including two driving whilst disqualified.
Another four vehicles were dealt with by agencies for their own relative offences.
The team are working hard to prevent stolen cars and vans on the road from endangering others.
