SLOUGH climbed out of the relegation spots in Division One of the Home Counties Premier League after rain effected matches on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.

The Upton Court Park-based club collected six points when their game at bottom side Horspath was abandoned, whilst Tring Park were beaten at Aston Rowant.

are now a single point above the relegation zone and two ahead of Horspath, but 34 points behind Finchampstead in seventh position.

Horspath won the coin toss and elected to field first at the Recreation Ground, with the visitors reaching 166-7 in 45 overs before the rain arrived.

Opening batsman Daniyal Akhtar carried his bat through for an unbeaten 100 runs from 136 balls, including nine boundaries and four maximum hits. It is the third time this season he has scored a century and takes his average for the summer to 40.00.

He and Rahim Akhtar (29) put on 58 runs for the fifth wicket, before an unbeaten stand of 55 runs between the opener and Sulaiman Akhtar (10*).

Liam Manley led the Horspath bowling attack with his figures of 2-16 from 10 overs, which included five maidens and the wicket of Saif Zaib for a third ball duck.

return to Upton Court Park the visit of league leaders and defending champions Henley this Saturday (11am start).

Datchet lost ground in the race for the title when their match at Buckingham Town was cancelled, whilst Henley managed a rain-effected draw at home to Banbury.

Datchet are now 29 points behind the league leaders ahead of a visit to the Wally Gage Memorial Ground from Tring Park this Saturday.

Burnham and Cookham Dean remain looked in a battle for survival in Division Two after their respective matches were abandoned due to rain.

It means there are 10 points between Burnham in eighth place and Cookham in one of the two relegation spots with six weeks left in the season.

Burnham won the toss and choose to field first in their match against Oxford at The Memorial Ground, with the visitors reaching 155-9 in 43 overs.

Opening batsman Oliver Price was the leading runs scorer with 52 from 101 balls, including four boundaries. It is the first half-century of his career and takes his average for the season to 15.00. He put on 53 runs for the first wicket with Harvey Eltham (28).

Muhammad Haroon was the destroyer-in-chief for Burnham with his figures of 8-83 from 23 overs, which includes the wickets of the first six Oxford batsman. It is his first five-wicket haul of the season and the fourth of his career, taking his average for the summer to 21.82.

Burnham have a must-win game at bottom side Dinton, who have lost in 11 of their 12 matches, this Saturday (11.30am).

Cookham missed the chance to climb the table when their match against Bucks rivals Chesham was abandoned at Ricketts Field.

The home team won the coin toss and elected to field first, with Chesham making 119 runs all out in 40.5 overs.

Captain and opening batsman Matthew Rance top-scored with 43 runs from 85 balls, which included four boundaries and one maximum hit.

Sahan Nanayakkara led the Cookham bowling attack with his figures of 6-55 from 20.5 overs, which includes the wickets of Robin Pritchard, Matthew Warner and Samiullah Sajid all without troubling the scorers.

It is the second time Nanayakkara has taken five wickets in a match this season, the fifth time in his career, and takes his average for the summer down to 15.69.

Cookham make the trip to promotion-chasing Oxford this Saturday (11.30am).
