SLOUGH recorded a third successive draw in Division One of the Home Counties Premier League after a home tie with High Wycombe on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.

The Berkshire-based club have now not won since the victory over Aston Rowant last month, three draws and three defeats, and remain in the relegation spots although just two points behind Tring Park in eighth place.

High Wycombe

won the coin toss and elected to field first at Upton Court Park, with

Slough

making 198 runs all out from 46.1 overs.

Opening batsman Mohammed Avas Anwar was the leading runs scorer with 56 from 109 balls, including three boundaries. It is his second-half century of the season and takes his average for the summer to 24.67.

Anwar and number three Saif Zaib (36) put on 53 runs for the second wicket, before a fourth-wicket stand of 51 runs between the opener and Rahim Akhtar (30).

Adam Dobb was the destroyer-in-chief for the visitors with his figures of 5-81 from 15.1 overs, which includes the wicket of Ikhlaq Nawaz for a third ball duck. It is the first time this season Dobb has taken a five-wicket-haul, with a new average of 14.85.

High Wycombe managed 151-5 from 39 overs in response, which means the Bucks-based side are now five matches without a league win and stand in fourth position in the table.

Opening batsman Edmund Casterton top-scored with 57 runs from 102 balls, including eight boundaries. It is his 25th career half-century and gives him a new average for the summer of 50.00.

Former Slough star Lloyd Paternott, batting at number four, made 50 from 51 balls, including six boundaries and one maximum hit, for a fourth half-century of the season and a new average of 37.42. The pair put on 101 runs for the third wicket.

Rishi Sharath was the best of the Slough bowlers with his figures of 3-29 from five overs, which includes the wicket of Thomas Hampton for a second-ball duck.

Slough will bid to break their winless run with a trip to bottom side Horspath, whilst High Wycombe return to London Road for the visit of Finchampstead this Saturday (11am start).
