NORTH Maidenhead have made a winning start to the new season after a seven-wicket victory against Wargrave in Division One on Saturday.

Wargrave won the toss and elected to bat first at Summerleaze, reaching 179-9 from their allotted 50 overs. Josh Sivier was the top scorer with 27 runs.

Sahaan John was the pick of the home bowlers with his figures of 3-26, while Mirban Saleem took 2-23 and Faaez Shamshi 2-40.

North Maidenhead

reached 180-3 off 44.4 overs for the win thanks to an unbeaten century from Faheem Qureshi. He made 103 runs off 119 balls with seven boundaries and two maximum hits.

Qureshi put on 62 runs with Shafiq Khan (23) for the first wicket and later added 69 with Shahzad Asghar (28*) in an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership.

All three Maidenhead wickets were taken by Mark Firth, who returned figures of 3-41 from 10 overs.

North Maidenhead make the trip across Berkshire to Falkland this Saturday (1pm start).

Slough 2s made a losing start in Division One following their 141-run defeat at Gerrards Cross last weekend.

Put into bat first, Gerrards Cross made 255-2 from 48 overs thanks to David Cleary (89*), Chris Marrow (66*) and James Hammerton (46).

The two wickets were claimed by Nabeel Janed with 1-38 and Syed Waqar Ali Shah with 1-39.

Slough were bowled out for 114 runs in 29.5 overs in response with opening batsman Adam Ali (44*) the top scorer. Rahim Akhtar (15) and Janed (11) were the only other batsman to reach double figures.

Daniel Hampton was the chief destroyer for the home side with his figures of 4-31. He was backed up by Zain Khan (3-17) and Ross Fyfe (2-17).

Windsor prop up the table in Division 2a after a 147-run defeat at Eversley on Saturday.

Eversley were invited to bat first and reached 236-6 from 49 overs with opener Jack Ford top scoring on 57 runs.

Ford put on 68 runs with Chris Last for the second wicket, while Stuart Lipo (30*) and Ben Barnard (21*) later added 50 in an unbeaten seventh-wicket stand.

with his figures of 4-38. The other wickets were taken by Jamie Hall (1-33) and Adam Allen-Turner (1-36).

Windsor were skittled for 89 runs in 21.4 overs in response. Chris Dixon top-scored with 15 but only Lines (14) and Allen-Turner (11) could also reach double figures.
