ONE of the North West's biggest triathlons is set to take place across one of the borough's most iconic landmarks this weekend.

Horwich Pool Triathlon, dubbed the 'Race to the Pike', sees athletes swim 500m at Horwich Leisure Centre before completing a 40km cycle and finishing with an 8.6km run.

The challenging circuit, which takes place from 7am on Sunday, May 5, ends at the top of the iconic Rivington Pike.

Athletes can join in as part of a club and the winning group gets £1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.
