A SPECTACULAR creation by a North Yorkshire chocolatier will feature in an episode of Channel 4’s ‘Extreme Chocolate Makers at Easter’ on Easter Monday.
The episode will feature Ashley McCarthy, chef and owner of Ye Old Sun Inn at Colton, near Tadcaster, as he brings edible glamour to a Strictly Come Dancing-style fundraising event to support St Leonard’s Hospice in York.
Ashley made a rotating chocolate glitter ball, topped with a pair of dancers and edible sunflowers - the hospice logo - which is made from more than 15kg of chocolate.
He said: “I was really pleased to be involved in the filming and in the event. The piece took well over 40 hours to make – it took over four hours just to stick on the chocolate tiles that form the glitter ball. But it was well worth the time and effort for the end result, especially as it was used to raise money for the hospice.” The show is on Channel 4 at 5.30pm
