These cases were heard at Reading and Slough Magistrates’ Court

April 2:

Andrzej Jeziorski, 40, of Juniper, Bracknell, admitted to assault by beating and received a community order. He will be required to take part in a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for a maximum of 40 days. A restraining order was made by the court and he was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £85.

Martin Andrew Hudson, 59, of Axbridge, Bracknell, denied being the driver of a motor vehicle and failing to stop after a road accident. He was found guilty and was fined £795. He had his driving licence endorsed with eight penalty points and was ordered to pay costs of £700 and a surcharge of £79.50.

April 3:

Delroy Hillary, 41, of Lower Broadmoor Road, Crowthorne, admitted to assault by beating and was ordered to pay compensation of £400. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85.

David Nicholls, 55, of Lower Broadmoor Road, Crowthorne, admitted to two counts of assault by beating and was ordered to pay compensation of £350.

April 4:

Tinotenda Chigona, 24, of Tilney Way, Earley, admitted to possessing a controlled drug of Class B - Cannabis/Cannabis Resin - and was fined £100. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £30. An order was made for the destruction of the drugs.

Mohammed Yasin Khan, 24, of Culver Lane, Earley, admitted to driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit. He was fined £300 and was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £30.

Jamie William Hawkins, 20, of Lysander Drive, Bracknell, admitted to five counts of fraud by false representation, namely intending to make financial gain to a total value of £6,400 by claiming to have a bicycle for sale on the website pinbike.com contrary to the Fraud Act 2006. He was committed to prison for 18 months, suspended for 18 months. He will be required to take part in a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement for a maximum of 10 days and an Unpaid Work Requirement of 80 hours in the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £3,920.

Kevin Keevil, 34, of no fixed abode, admitted to theft from a shop, namely stealing alcohol to the value of £51.49 from BP in Bracknell. He received a conditional discharge order for 12 months and was ordered to pay compensation of £51.49. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £20.

April 5:

Ellis Axton, 25, of Chiltern View, Binfield, denied keeping a vehicle namely motor vehicle index number which was unlicensed. He was proven guilty in his absence and fined £269. He was also ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £80.84 and costs of £200.

Paul Coyne, 63, of Owlsmoor Road, Sandhurst, was proven to have a vehicle registered under the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act 1994 when it did not meet the insurance requirements of section 144A. He was fined £220, ordered to pay costs of £200 and a surcharge of £30.

James Lee Ramsden, 34, of The Oaks, Bracknell, was proven to be the driver of a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and was fined £100. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £30.

A fundamental principle of justice is that it must be seen to be done. It is established in the UK that court cases should be heard in public. This principle of open justice is acclaimed on a number of grounds: as a safeguard against judicial error and as a deterrent to perjury.
