More than 40 members from Reading, Wokingham and surrounding areas gathered for Reading Cycling Club’s annual dinner and prize giving on Saturday (January 19).

Held in Zizzi's restaurant in Kings Road, Reading, cyclists were awarded for their contributions.

Christina Gustafson collected the award for Club Person of the Year for her involvement in the club's events, while Saulius Vizbaras received the award for Ride of the Year for his self-supported Transcontinental Ride across Europe during the summer.

Natalie Bravo won the Anthony Maynard Spirit Award for her hard work and commitment in growing the women’s' membership.

Paul Whitehorne had a good year collecting awards for Veteran Track Champion, Road Race Champion and 10 mile Time Trial Road Bike Champion and Greg Woodford picked up awards for 10 and 25 mile Time Trial Champion in a season that saw him achieve his first sub-20 minute 10 mile time trial.

Other winners included James Scrivener, Jennifer Magill, Rob Jefford, Steve Ferry, Andrew Brady, Matthew Gara, Darren Parker, Ray Bennett and Rod MacFadyen.

Club chairman Greg Woodford said: "2018 was a great year of growth in membership, particularly new women members through our women-only rides.

"We have also seen increased participation across all our cycling disciplines including cyclo-cross, time trials, track and road racing, as well as our weekly social club runs."
