A TV star has cut the ribbon for the opening of a new Thames Valley Hospice store on Princess Square in Bracknell town.

The charity shop opened its doors to shoppers at 12pm on Friday, November 9 and Only Fools and Horses actress Sue Holderness was there to proudly open it.

The much-loved star was also joined by the former Mayor of Bracknell Cllr Mrs Tina McKenzie-Boyle, and the Hospice’s Ambassador and day therapies patient Carol Ellis, as well as a member of the nursing.

Julie Rowley, director of retail at Thames Hospice said: “It is just wonderful to be back in Bracknell and we were so overwhelmed by the fantastic support we received on Friday.

“We are delighted with all the fabulous comments and feedback we have received and look forward to being part of the community again for many years to come.”

At the launch day, shoppers got the chance to soak up the celebratory atmosphere with refreshments, a slice of cake and the chance to browse the store.

Ms Ellis was the runner-up for the Adult Award at the Pride of Bracknell Forest Awards 2018.

She continues to be nominated by the community and is well-known for her ongoing support for Thames Hospice's work in the Bracknell area.

The new store offers a range of pre-loved clothes, childrenswear, accessories, homeware and gifts including books and audio.

In addition, they will also be selling new products such as candles, scarves and Christmas decorations ahead of the festive season.

Thames Valley Hospice are a local charity providing care for people living with life-limiting illnesses in East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire.

She added: “Bracknell is in the heart of our Thames Hospice and we can’t wait to be back in the town having traded here for many years before the regeneration and we looked forward to welcoming all new and existing customers to our beautiful new store.”
