THE MOSCOW Stete Circus was in town as part of their UK world premiere tour of Le Genda which acts out Rasputin’s Dream.

The grounds of South Hill Park were transformed into the circus with a giant red and white big top taking pride of place.

Audiences were awed by a feast of performances from clowns to extreme crossbow action which had a small child yelling to warn the performers it was dangerous.

Grigory’s Girls, Evgeniya Bortnikova and Viktoryia Arabei, opened the show with jaw-dropping rope work 30 feet in the air.

The clowns, Valery Kashkin and Valentina Rumyantseva, provided the comic relief but were by no means outshone, with Valery jumping threw hoops, literally, tap dancing in a tutu and getting dressed on a tightrope.

But it was The Sky Wheel that really took my breath away and I found myself sat with my mouth wide open.

The troupe of four set wheels in motion as they walked blind-folded and skipped over the top of wheel.

As much as I feared they would plummet 12 meters to the floor I could not take my eyes of them.

No Russian circus is complete without a trampolinist swigging vodka and pouring it all over the audience, but despite his perceived state he still managed to turn some tricks
