THE CELLAR Bar at South Hill Park was turned into Club A-Gogo as audiences were swept back to the 60s by an amateur cast to relive all that made a usual Saturday night memorable.

From the moment the audience went down the stairs to the venue the club atmosphere took hold.

Cast and guests alike were given a stamp to Club A-Gogo, and cast members swept through the audience chatting about the boys or girls they had their eye on.

Audience members were even invited up to the stage to join in Eric's Hokey Cokey.

Amy Newman, who played Sue, said: "What's nice about this production is its not just about us doing a show, it's for the audience to be part of it as well. Inviting them in makes it 10 times better."

The play was a quick-witted, laugh-out-loud musical, which captivated the audience from the moment the cast walked on stage in their underwear.

The play followed seven teenagers who danced and flirted their way through a night at the club. The boys make a bet that 'Frigid Bridget' will touch Eddie's 'whatsit' by the end of the night.

The bar was decorated with posters of 60s bands and there was even a song paying homage to the man with the quiff, Cliff Richard.

The show pointed out many similarities between teenagers of the 60s and today. Amy Newman performed a number blaming Twiggy for the need to be skinny.

Jody Green said: "This is a show that appeals to all generations. It appeals to those around in the 60s as they know what it was like, and it appeals to people nowadays."
