Moles goalscorer Carl Davies celebrates with his team in Binfield's 2-0 win over Shrivenham.

BINFIELD continued their unbeaten start to the season picking up four points out of six in their last two games this week.

The Moles fought back from two goals down against Hellenic Premier title contenders Shortwood to end up with a 3-3 draw. They followed that up with a comfortable 2-0 win over Shrivenham on Monday night.

The results leave Binfield on a respectable eight points after four games.

Binfield responded well to being 2-0 down on Saturday with a 26th minute chipped goal from James Suarez.

Shortwood hit back straight away to regain their two-goal advantage before Ryan Millward headed in Binfield’s second close to half-time.

The Moles created several chances in a strong second-half performance and were rewarded for their efforts with a late penalty for a handball in the box, which Carl Davies duly converted to make it 3-3.

Manager Mark Tallentire made three changes to the backline for the Shrivenham game, welcoming back captain Gary Callaway to the defence.

A goal in each half and a clean sheet was enough to comfortably secure the three points against a young Shrivenham side.

A disallowed goal for live-wire Ian Davies on the half hour was soon followed by Garry Sergeant’s volleyed goal into the top corner.

Binfield took control of the second half from the start and only the post denied Tim Walsh.

Substitutes Carl Davies and James Rogers combined for the second goal in the 70th minute with Davies heading home unmarked at the far post.

The Moles travel to Flackwell Heath for their next league game on Bank Holiday Monday.
