Not happy: Roger Herridge labelled Wokingham’s collapse against Old Woodstock as ‘unacceptable’.

WOKINGHAM and Embrook shipped five goals in a nightmare 14 minutes in a crushing 5-2 defeat at Old Woodstock Town on Saturday.

The Satsumas took a deserved 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Chris Fower and Tom Hopper in each half.

But the 74th minute dismissal of Shaun Wanklyn for a second yellow card sparked a dramatic collapse as a Jack Dunmill hat-trick, an Adam Doyle penalty plus a Kyle McCoy strike saw Old Woodstock come storming back.

Satsumas assistant manager Roger Herridge fumed: “We capitulated, we lost the plot.

“Those 14 minutes weren’t acceptable and we have to learn.”

Boss Wayne Wanklyn added: “It was totally embarrassing. If we defend like that it is going to be a long season.”

Wokingham have two home games over the Bank Holiday with Wantage Town (3pm ko) set to visit Larges Lane on Saturday followed by Monday’s derby against landlords Bracknell Town (3pm ko).

Wokingham v Old Woodstock: Harris, Walton (Horscroft), Luis, Lewin, Wanklyn, Hopper, Summers (Cornell), Bellis, Lee (Cooper-Clark), Fower, Bateman.

*WOKINGHAM and Embrook bounced back from a horror weekend with a 2-1 victory at Carterton on Tuesday night.

Satsumas crashed 5-2 at Old Woodstock Town on Saturday after shipping all five goals in the last 14 minutes.

But Wayne Wanklyn’s men put the setback behind them to claim a much-needed three points in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Adam Cornell gave the visitors the lead which was wiped out by Danny Horscroft‘s own goal. However, Horscroft made amends by hitting a stunning 80th minute winner from 25-yards.

Satsumas assistant boss Rodger Herridge said: “We wanted a reaction to Saturday and we got it.

“The lads deserve credit, they responded well and I was delighted Danny got the winner because he was unlucky for their goal.

“We’re pleased with our progress but there are still things we can do better.”

And he added: “Carterton couldn’t believe how many fans we took and I want to thank them all.”
