WOKINGHAM and Emmbrook celebrated their first win in the Hellenic League Premier Division thanks to a 2-1 home victory against Flackwell Heath.

Goals from Adam Cornell and skipper Tom Hopper earned a deserved three points for the relieved Satsumas at Larges Lane on Tuesday night.

Assistant boss Roger Herridge beamed: “I’m really pleased with our start we’ve made in this division after three games.

"We could have got something against Kidlington, we should have beaten Slimbridge on Saturday and now we’ve got the win.

“Hopefully this will settle us down because there are no easy games and we can’t allow our standards to drop.”

Wokingham carved open a strong Flackwell outfit countless times and could easily have won by more.

Herridge added: “There are still things we can work on. We’re creating a lot of chances but we need to be more clinical.”

Satsumas now hit the road with away games at Old Woodstock Town and Carterton coming up next.

* BRACKNELL Town came from behind to clinch a 1-1 draw at Witney United.

The Blanketmen led though Sean McKeon’s early goal on Tuesday night but the Robins replied through a second-half Robert Yorke-Goldney penalty to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

However, the main plaudits went to Bracknell keeper Dan Tillson who saved a 70th minute McKeon penalty to preserve a point.

Robins boss Steve McClurg stated: “Dan was excellent all night. He made some super saves and kept out a penalty, I was delighted with him.”

Both sides had chances to win the Hellenic League Premier Division clash, and McClurg added: “It could have been 5-5, but I suppose it’s a good point.

“We’re showing good spirit and the lads love playing for each other.”

Bracknell also gave a debut to Sandhurst centre-back Matt Weston who has signed dual forms and is likely to start in Saturday’s home fixture against Slimbridge at Larges Lane (3pm).

* SANDHURST Town lost their 100 per cent start to the Combined Counties Premier season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Guildford City at Bottom Meadow.

Jon Underwood had started the league campaign with started two wins and travel to Croydon on Saturday.

* BINFIELD continued their unbeaten start to the Hellenic Premier Division season with a 0-0 draw against Abingdon Town.

Remarkably it was the Moles first scoreless game since October 2007.

* STUART Scammell’s rejuvenated Ascot United side made it three wins out of three in the Hellenic Premier Division on Wednesday night with a 7-2 thrashing of Oxford City Nomads.

Rob Saunders and Jon Bennet grabbed two goals each, while Chris Page, Andy Lunn and an own goal completed the scoring.

The win keeps United - who started with six defeats out of seven last term - top of the league.
