LONDON Irish fly-half Stephen Myler believes his side are a work in progress.

Exiles made it two Greene King IPA Championship wins from two with a 52-20 rout of Nottingham at Madejski Stadium last time out.

Declan Kidney’s men, who were without a fixture last weekend, ran in eight tries as they followed up their opening-day win at Ealing Trailfinders.

But the experienced stand-off promised Exiles fans there is more to come.

Myler said: “This is not going to be an instant thing where we start firing on all cylinders – it’s going to take a bit of time.

“But we’re working hard during the week and we fully trust in what the coaches are saying to help us keep improving.

“There were definitely some positive signs which we can take into training.

“We needed a better performance against Nottingham. Although we got a good win at Ealing, we weren’t very happy with the performance.

“We thought we could improve in a lot of areas and I thought we did, but there’s still a bit of work to be done. We’ve definitely taken some steps forward.”

And ex-rugby league man Myler, 34, added: “I’m really pleased with the result and the amount of points we scored, and we feel like we’ve progressed, but there’s more in the tank.”

London Irish captain Josh McNally echoed Myler’s comments, stating: “It was a very good win. against Nottingham.

“We’re still a new team who are four games (two pre-season) into the campaign, but we’re going in the right direction.

“The new boys are settling in and playing well.”

Irish return to Championship action this Sunday when they host Bedford Blues at Madejski Stadium (3pm ko).
