MIKE Coman scooped the Player of the Season trophy at London Irish’s annual end-of-season awards dinner last Wednesday evening.

The 29-year-old back row (above) has been a fine addition to the Aviva Premiership-chasing side’s campaign after making the switch from Edinburgh in the summer.

Chief executive Bob Casey, who spent 10 years as a second row at Irish, described Coman as the player he would have most liked to have played with during his time at the club.

The players’ player of the season gong went to Sebastian De Chaves, with the South African lock scoring four times in 22 appearances after switching from Leicester Tigers in the off season.

The young player of the season award went to Harry Elrington, with the 23-year-old playing 19 times for Irish this season. He was a try-scorer on his debut during a 36-12 victory over Richmond back in September.

Fellow Academy graduate Joe Cokanasiga (below) snatched the try of the season award for his explosive score against London Scottish last autumn.
