JUSTICE Day will return to Ascot Racecourse to defend his Albert Bartlett Stakes title this Saturday.

Jockey John Egan guided the then three-year-old to victory after a sensational ride in 2014.

Justice Day relished the rain-soften conditions in a contest that was wide open when Muthmir was pulled out.

Egan asked his mount to quicken over a furlong out and he responded to win by a length and a quarter from Kickboxer, with Milly’s Gift third.

Egan reckoned the ground was key to helping the colt claim a fifth career win, though the going is likely to be a lot firmer for this week’s upcoming two-day meeting on Friday and Saturday.

Also this Saturday, some big names including the Nicky Henderson-trained Forgotten Voice, Hillstar, Romsdal, Missed Call and Star Storm will compete in the Group 3 Gigaset Cumberland Lodge Stakes over 1 mile 4 furlongs.

Godolphin’s Lightning Moon will also be making a return to defend last year’s win in the John Guest Bengough Stakes.

Another Ascot winner, Intransigent, will make a reappearance on Saturday in a bid to retain his Totesport6 Challenge Cup title.

The highlight of Friday’s card will be The Winning Post Bookmakers Handicap Stakes over six furlongs where Ryan Moore will ride Squats.

The flat racing will be accompanied by the ninth Camra Beer Festival off the track boasting 280 different ales, ciders and perries.
