The organisers of tomorrow's cancelled BetVictor Day at Ascot Racecourse have rescheduled the event for next weekend in Cheltenham.

Ascot Racecourse has abandoned the event, which was set to feature the Grade 1 Victor Chandler Chase and set to see an appearance by Sprinter Sacre, due to snow.

Chris Stickles, clerk of the course said: "Following two inches of snow to midday and the snow still falling racing has been abandoned."

Nick Smith, head of communications, said: "It's always frustrating to lose a race meeting but it became pretty clear this morning that there was no chance of beating the snow.

"The track itself is actually raceable below the frost covers, which he have had down for nearly a week and were doing their job well.

"The good news is that with the help of the sponsors, Bet Victor, the big race - the Victor Chandler Chase - has been rescheduled for Cheltenham next weekend.

The next race scheduled for Ascot is on February 16.

Those who have purchased tickets will be refunded within five working days on the payment card used for purchase.

If you have purchased by cash or cheque, your money will be returned by cheque within 28 days. You can also transfer your ticket to the Betfair Ascot Chase Day on February 16.
