FRANKEL is set to cement his place in racing folklore in what will be his final race in the QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot Racecourse on October 20 - despite the likely testing conditions.
The going at the Berkshire track was described as 'soft' this week, a surface the world's highest rated racehorse has not encountered since his racecourse debut more than two years ago.
The wet weather - coupled with Nathaniel's likely participation and Cirrus Des Aigles' recent nine-length win at Longchamp, France has made Frankel available at odds of 1-4 on Betfair.
Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Frankel's owner Khalid Abduallah, said: "Frankel is fine and hopefully it will be a good race. I cannot say he will race come what may.
"If the ground worsened we would look at it and make a decision. But I do not think he would be unduly worried by soft ground."
