BRACKNELL Town joint-boss Steve McClurg promises his players will be among the fittest in the league next season.

McClurg and Richard Whitty have been rebuilding the squad following a disastrous campaign which ended in relegation from the Southern League.

A number of last season's players have already left leaving McClurg with a big job on his hands ahead of the forthcoming Hellenic League Premier Division season.

But the Robins' boss is remaining positive and insists the turnout in training has been encouraging ahead of the club's first friendly this Saturday at Bucks FC (3pm ko).

"Our aim is to compete in the division," said McClurg. "If we're not good enough in some departments then we've got to make sure we're right up there fitness wise.

"What I can guarantee is that we'll be raring to go when the season starts. If you are a fit side it gives you a good foundation to work from.

"Results aren't important at this stage, it's a case of getting to know your players. We've had three or four new faces in training and some promising youngsters."

Meanwhile, Bracknell will face Canning Town, Wodson Park or Feltham in the first round of the FA Vase.
