SANDHURST Town welcome Blue Square Premier opponents AFC Wimbledon in a friendly match to celebrate the club's centenary next week.

The Fizzers, founded in 1910, face Wimbledon at Bottom Meadow next Friday [9] in their first pre-season friendly of the season.

Jon Underwood's side began training on Sunday but are looking forward to testing themselves in just over a week against top class opposition.

Wimbledon's current manager Terry Brown managed Underwood when he was a schoolboy at Wokingham and the pair have kept in contact ever since.

Underwood said: "It'll be quite a good game. It's good to have a club like that coming down. I've spoken to Terry and he will send as strong a side as he can.

"As soon as we were able to confirm it to the players, they were all excited to have a club of that level coming to Sandhurst."

He added: "We want to play well and give a good account of ourselves. It's a nice way to kick off pre-season."

Kick off at Bottom Meadow is at 7.45pm and tickets cost £5 for adults while children under 14 are free. BBQ and refreshments are available.
