BRACKNELL Town manager Steve McClurg will find out next week if his summer recruitment drive has been a success.

McClurg has been speaking with players from last season's squad as well as several new targets.

However, he admits he is unsure what the turnout will be when pre-season training starts on Thursday, July 1.

Robins' boss told the News: "We've asked players to come to Bracknell and we'll wait and see what happens.

"Until we start training, we just won't know who will turn up. But hopefully a good number will be there next week.

"People says they've signed this player or that player but they can't until the registration forms are out.

"But we have talked to a number of players and we're keeping our fingers crossed."

Bracknell's disastrous form last season culminated in relegation from the Southern League into the Hellenic League Premier Division.

McClurg, pictured, is operating on a tight budget but he is confident he can form a competitive side.

"We want players who want to train hard and enjoy there football," he declared.

"It should be an exciting season with lots of derbies coming up against Wokingham and Emmbrook, Ascot United, Binfield and Reading Town.

"This club has been through a bit of a bad time and we want to put a smile back on people's faces."

And former Binfield boss McClurg also quipped: "There's got to be an improvement on last year or I'll be putting the boots back on myself.

"But I'm confident we can put together a good side and form a good group of players who want to improve themselves."

Pre-season training starts on Thursday, July 1 at Birch Hill Recreation Ground, starting at 7pm and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday at the same time.
