BRACKNELL Town are poised to unveil their new manager after David Tuttle left at the weekend following a disastrous campaign.
Robins chairman Tony Hardy confirmed they are set to announce his successor when formalities are completed.
He told the News: "We have a preferred candidate but we won't say who it is until next week.
"The recruitment process went well and we had a large number of quality candidates.
"But there are still a few things that need finalising."
Tuttle was appointed a few games into the season when the previous boss Kerthney Carty walked out.
Ex-Spurs and Millwall defender Tuttle was forced to work under tight financial constraints and with an ever-changing side.
It led to a nightmare relegation campaign in which Bracknell took just six points from 42 games and shipped a staggering 187 goals leaving them rock bottom of Zamaretto League Division One South and West.
Hardy added: "It was always going to be tough but we were still disappointed with the way things panned out. Results have been pretty atrocious.
"Dave leaves us on good terms, he was great to work with but it's results that count at semi-professional level.
"Dave gave it everything but that's not to say he couldn't have done better. Like all of us, there's always room for improvement."
Town's likely relegation into the Hellenic League Premier Division could see the return of a mouthwatering derby against local rivals Wokingham and Emmbrook who have been promoted from Division One East and will groundshare at Larges Lane next season.
Town would also lock horns with the likes of Binfield, Ascot United and Reading Town.
"We have expressed a preference to play in the Hellenic League where there would be some big local derbies," said Hardy. We would relish the chance to play against these sides but the FA is planning another reshuffle so we won't know until mid-June."
