WOKINGHAM and Emmbrook clinched promotion from Hellenic League Division One East - then set their sights on winning the title.

The Satsumas beat promotion rivals Holyport 2-1 at Larges Lane on Tuesday night to guarantee a top two spot, with Richard Bland grabbing both goals.

It means Wayne Wanklyn's men trail Thame United by nine points with four games to play, but they do have a game in hand on the leaders.

Assistant manager Rodger Herridge declared: "To be promoted with four games spare is a fantastic achievement.

"We can certainly relax a bit now because the job has been done. But as long as it's mathematically possible to win the league we will carry on trying to win games.

"We'll be going all out to win the title because Thame have some tough games left to play.

"If they lose one of them then suddenly it's a different picture."

Bland fired Satsumas in front with a clinical finish but Holyport, who needed to win to keep their hopes alive, equalised on the stroke of half time. However, the excellent Bland netted the promotion-clinching winner midway through the second-half as the celebrations began at Larges Lane.

"There were a nervy 10 minutes at the end because this was Holyport's last chance saloon," added Herridge.

"But it was a great feeling at the end and I'm delighted for the lads who have been brilliant all season. They were so chuffed but it's tough to celebrate too much when people have to work the next morning so we're going to do it properly after the Farnborough game this Saturday."
