Rob Saunders is among the United players available again for Saturday

ASCOT United FC should be boosted by the return of no fewer than five first team regulars for Saturday's Hellenic Premier Division trip to old foes Marlow United (3pm ko).

The relegation-threatened Yellamen finally saw their five-match unbeaten run come to an end on Wednesday evening courtesy of a 1-0 defeat at home to fifth place Witney United.

However, Ascot were without goalkeeper David Lyons, central defenders Nick Curtis and Paul McGrotty, skipper Tim Standing and attackers Andy Lunn and Rob Saunders for that match. Amazingly all six were suspended for the visit of last season's Premier Division runners-up.

But with the exception of Standing - who was sent off in last month's draw with Oxford City Nomads - the experienced players should all be available to slot back into the United team for Saturday's trip to Marlow.

The Buckinghamshire side are no strangers to the Yellamen having been Reading Senior Division rivals before both clubs secured two promotions into the Hellenic Premier Division.

And it was Marlow who Ascot beat 5-2 to claim the 2006 Reading Senior Cup, still one of the proudest moments in the club's history.

The sides drew 1-1 at the Racecourse Ground earlier this season.

On Wednesday evening the under-strengthed Ascot side performed remarkably well against their high-flying opponents.

Jeff Lamb was particularly impressive at the back as the Yellamen went down to a lone 46th minute strike by Witney's Chris Harper.
