BINFIELD boss Steve McClurg was delighted to see his side get back to winning ways after a run of three straight defeats.

However the Moles supremo was less than impressed with his side's first half display in Saturday's 2-1 win over Pegasus Juniors.

And he has warned his players they need to up their game and improve their discipline if they want to pick up the three points from Saturday's trip to Fairford Town.

McClurg said: "I think we have played better in the last couple of games that we lost.

"We were absolutely terrible in the first half, we were woeful.

"We just didn't have any shape and we were all over the place.

"We got seven yellow cards overall, which is not good enough really. You can't afford to be that indisciplined.

"Three of the cards were maybe a bit unlucky, but the other four were definites.

"It is definitely something we need to look at and work."

Following Wednesday evening's trip to lowly Hook Norton the Moles travel to sixth-bottom Fairford and McClurg believes the Gloucestershire side will be no push-overs on their own ground.

He said: "We beat them when we played them earlier in the season, but I thought they looked really good going forward.

"We will have to set up properly, play from the first whistle, keep our shape and take our chances.

"No matter what division you play in every team will have their day at some stage, so if he don't give a team like Fairford the respect they deserve there is every chance they can beat us.

"Having said that our away form hasn't been as good as we would have liked this season, so it would be good to pick up a few points."

On Saturday central defender Ryan Millward was the hero with both goals as the Moles overturned a 1-0 half time lead to beat Pegasus 2-1.

McClurg said: "They scored a very good goal in the first half. It was brilliant really - an overhead kick.

"We changed a few things at half time, but the credit has to go to the players who kept working hard and eventually got the result.

"Things didn't go for us in the first half, but it was not down to a lack of effort.

"We improved after half time and probably just about deserved it.

"Ryan can play up front, but was playing at centre back on Saturday. Both his goals came from set pieces and he took them well.

"The first broke to him in the box and side-footed it past the keeper and the second was a header."

And after a run of three defeats, McClurg was relieved to finally chalk up their 10th Hellenic Premier Division win of the season.

"It's good to get the three points.

"There were some indifferent individual performance, as well as some very good ones.

"But sometimes that's the way is goes.

"You can play well and get nothing out of it and sometimes you don't play so well, but still end up winning.

"As a manager the three points is always the most important thing.

"We probably haven't picked up as many points as I think we have deserved in the last few weeks, so we will definitely take the win."

Binfield: Adams, Callaway, Millward, Fenton, Partridge, Suarez, Tallentire, Nebbett, Lilley, Whitty, Gumbs. Subs: Withers, Walsh, Moore, Withers.
