BINFIELD boss Steve McClurg has warned has side not to waste their impressive start to their maiden Hellenic Premier Division season.
After romping to the Division One East title, the Moles spent the first two months of the season in the top four after wins over Highworth Town, Hook Norton, Marlow, Ascot United and Abingdon.
Since then they have slipped down to 11th place. But with just one point separating four teams above them in table, McClurg has challenged his side to finish the season as they started and fly back up the table.
He said: "We want to pick up as many points as we can this season and we want to finish as high as we possibly can in the league.
"We go into every game looking to win and we will carry on doing that until the very end of the season."
The Moles were frustrated by the weather again last weekend as their home game against Carterton was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
This means Binfield have now not played in over a month, since December 12th's defeat against Reading Town. McClurg has been doing his best to keep the squad ticking over fitness-wise. But he admits it hasn't been an easy task.
He said: "It has been difficult but we have been trying to make the most of it. We managed to train at the sports centre on Saturday for a few hours which was good.
"But we have only been able to train two or three times since Christmas. Last week we were supposed to be training at a school, but then the school was closed down so we had to abandon that idea.
"We are trying to do what we can to keep the squad sharp, but even when we have had training not all of the players have been able to get to it because of the weather.
"Every team will be in the same boat. And everyone will be praying for a few warm days before the weekend so we can get a game on Saturday."
Weather permitting Binfield are due to travel to rock-bottom Bicester on Saturday, who have won just once in 22 league games this season.
The Moles only snuck a 2-1 victory when the Oxfordshire side travelled to Stubbs Lane in October.
And McClurg admits he is not expecting an easy ride if the game does go ahead.
He said: "They came to us earlier in the season and they looked a decent side, they kept going to the end and we won 2-1.
"Either they played well, or we didn't play so well, but either way they gave us a good game, so there is no reason why they can't do it again.
"We won't be taking anything for granted but we will be looking for the three points as we do in every game."
And looking further ahead McClurg believes the full depth of his squad will be tested over the next few months after the festive period white out.
He said: "I think we will have a very congested fixture list for the next month or even more and we will need a good squad to cope with that.
"I've been delighted with everyone that has played for us so far this year and we'll need that to continue."
