JON Bennett scored an 85th minute winner to seal Ascot United's passage to the next round of the FA Vase on Saturday.

The scores remained goalless with Chinnor until the dying stages of the game when Bennett popped up with the all-important goal.

Ascot now face Witney Town in the first round proper, after they defeated Holmer Green 6-0. The tie will be played on October 13.

There was more good news for the Yellamen, who welcomed Rob Saunders back into the side.

The signing is another boost for Jeff Lamb's side, adding experience and quality to an already promising squad.

Meanwhile, Ascot United Reserves crashed out of the Berks & Bucks County Cup after they were beaten 3-0 by Highmoor Ibis Reserves.
