THE Get Berkshire Active Awards for 2016 are open for nominations.

With 12 awards on offer, the GBA awards celebrate the achievements of people across the sport and physical activity sector in Berkshire.

Nominations for the awards will accepted until Friday November 18, with winners announced at the awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Reading on February 10, 2016.

The GBA Awards are on opportunity for people to be rewarded and celebrated for their achievements and commitment to sport and physical activity at all levels.

The event will celebrate excellence from the talented sports people of Berkshire and applaud the unseen work that goes on behind the scenes to make sport and physical activity happen.

Brett Nicholls is CEO at Get Berkshire Active. He said: “We’re fortunate to have very talented and dedicated people in Berkshire who deserve recognition for their achievements and hard work.

“The awards will celebrate both sporting talent from individuals, clubs and teams, as well as workplaces, schools and community groups who promote sport and physical activity.

“This is a great opportunity to repay the services of the selfless individuals that create active opportunities for all to enjoy.”

Get Berkshire Active have added three new award categories this year and are confident that the fifth annual award ceremony will be the biggest and best yet.

The awards are open to anybody who has any role in sport or physical activity, and nominations are welcomed through the online nomination form.

The 2016 awards will be in the following categories: Sports Personality; Junior Sports Personality; Lifetime Achievement; Workplace of the Year; Health Project of the Year; Volunteer of the Year; Coach of the Year; Community Club of the Year; Youth Engagement Project of the Year; Active Primary School; Active Secondary School and Team Performance of the Year.
