READING Hockey Club's Alex Danson scored her second goal of the tournament as Great Britain made it two wins from two in Rio by defeating India 3-0 with a dominant display.

Giselle Ansley and Nicola White put Danny Kerry's team on top before Danson again got in on the scoring act with 33 minutes played.

GB moved level with USA at the top of their pool with maximum points. Their next match is on Wednesday at 5.30pm against Argentina.

India made life difficult for GB with the massed ranks of blue shirts in defensive positions ensured that the first quarter only saw one clear chance for the side captained by Kate Richardson-Walsh from Maidenhead.

That was set up by her former Reading team-mate Danson, but her backhand shot was not quite diverted in by Sophie Bray from above her head.

The pattern of play resumed in the second quarter with GB probing and looking for an opening. They broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when Helen Richardson-Walsh won a penalty corner and Ansley stepped up to fire a precise drag flick past the goalkeeper.

It was 2-0 two minutes later when good link up play from Danson and Bray set up White to stab home from close range.

It wasn’t long before the third goal came. Lily Owsley carved open the defence with some nice skills and crossed for Danson to apply the finish for her 95th international goal.

In the final quarter India mustered their first chance on goal with a penalty corner, but it was well defended.

Bray continued to terrorise the defence and her cross was almost converted by Danson.

With seconds remaining on the clock India had one last chance. Vandana Kataryia was all alone with just Maddie Hinch to beat but the goalkeeper preserved her clean sheet with a splendid save.
