TABARRAK and Frankie Dettori won the AGV Handicap Stakes feature race at Ascot on Friday night.

Stablemate Atlantic Sun battled Tabarrak down the home straight and, after a lengthy stewards enquiry, no placings were altered netting 3/1 Tabarrak the winner’s prize pot and Richard Hannon a 1-2.

It was Ascot’s sole race night meeting of the year and spectators were out in force.

In the opener over two miles, 3-1 favourite Argent Knight won a thrilling finish to pip Seaside Sizzler on the nod in a photo finish.

Arguably the most impressive display of the evening came from the second race winner, Camargue, for Mark Johnston in the five furlong Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

Ridden by Joe Fanning, the two-year-old stole a march with two furlongs to go and never looked in trouble to win in style.

American filly Abingdon was also impressive in winning the Fillies’ Stakes for Sir Michael Stoute.

There was an upset in the fourth as 14/1 Muir Lodge won over six furlongs for Pat Cosgrave.

The final race went to Taurean Star at 25/1.

On Saturday, Flash Fire and Adam Kirby won the Totescoop6 Victoria Cup for Godolphin.

The 20/1 outsider stayed on to earn the feature prize ahead of Mutawathea (25/1), Buckstay and Dinkum Diamond.

The day started with a thrilling finish in the Totepoolliveinfo.com Novice Stakes where hot-favourite Reach High, ridden by William Buick for Godolphin, pipped Harry Angel in a photo finish.

In the second, Nicky Henderson had one of the most noticeable entries of the day in the Leo Bancroft Signature Haircare Handicap Stakes with Sign Of Victory. However, it was 5/1 shot King Bolete who impressed from the front and stole a march to win for Andrea Atzeni.

Buick was at the double in the Carey Group Buckhounds Stakes as he steered Elite Army home.

Another photo finish saw Light And Shade (11/2) win the EBF Breeders’ Series Fillies’ Handicap. Buick completed a hat-trick in the last as Normandy Barriere took the Rosling King Handicap.

A TOTAL of 18 horses are set to go to post for Newbury’s richest race, the Group One £350,000 Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes, on Saturday (3.55pm).

Long-term ante-post favourite Limato, trained at Wantage by Henry Candy, is unlikely to race after heavy rain during the week. Globetrotter Euro Charline is set for her first domestic start since July last year.
