FANS of Berkshire food, drinks and music can discover new favourites at Wokingham Food and Drink Festival from Friday.

Around 8,000 people are expected to attend the fourth annual event, which starts on Friday evening and runs until Sunday at Elms Field in Wokingham.

Festival organiser Kate Lole said: “We are really excited about the festival this year. There will be more exhibitors, more chef demos and a Children’s Corner to the keep the kids amused.

“A great variety of music will be live on stage during the day and also Friday and Saturday evenings.

“We have our fingers crossed for good weather but there is plenty of cover in the restaurant marquee so it won’t dampen our enjoyment.”

Tempting attractions on offer will include the chance to sample different foods and drinks among the stalls in the exhibitor marquee, from companies including Ascot Ales, Riverford Home Delivery, Beehive Treats, Reading-based chancham, Chilliqueen, Lovibonds Brewery and Mortimer Chocolate.

There will also be cookery tips in the demonstration theatre, from chefs including Neil Bardo, head chef at Miltons Restaurant in Wokingham, Orsola Muscia, The Tailor Made Chef, and Michelin-praised chef Ryan Simpson of Orwells in Shiplake Row.

Entertainment for children will include crafty activities with Hobbycraft, face-painting, making biscuits and decorating pizzas.

There will also be a large restaurant marquee featuring Thai noodles, Loch Fyne seafood, calzone pizza, sausage and steak Burgers, paella, tartiflette, crepes and ice cream, plus a wide range of drinks.

There will be performances from bands including the Rock Choir, Graham Nash’s “The Elton Experience”, Lipstick On Your Collar, Savour The Flavour and more. Children under 16 go free.
