THE Met Office has issued an amber warning for the South East - with severe weather forecast for later today.

The "be prepared" alert comes as the region braces itself for up to four inches of snow this evening and overnight.

The harsh weather is expected to cause treacherous driving conditions and the Highways Agency is urging motorists to "be wise" on the roads.

For advice on preparing for the severe weather, see www.direct.gov.uk
