BUDDING bobbies found out more about becoming Special Constables at a recruitment drive.
Officers from Thames Valley Police were on hand to answer questions about taking on the role of a part-time volunteer bobbie, known as specials, at Wokingham Town Hall in Market Place on Tuesday last week.
Special Constables have the same powers as regular police officers. Neighbourhood sergeant for Wokingham Nigel Scarratt said: "We are pleased with how it went. Specials are really important because they are an extra resource we can call on as and when needed.
"Becoming a volunteer police officer is a great way of giving something back to the community, but it also gives an insight into the role of a police officer."
