Student's picture seen by the nation
A YOUNG photographer's work has been seen by the nation after she wowed judges in a prestigious competition.
Joanne Banks, 18, an A-level photography student at Strode's College in Egham has won the Alexandra Rose national photographic competition. Her winning picture appeared in the Sunday Express and this week's OK magazine.
The Chertsey resident, who scooped photographic vouchers and a day working with the magazine, said: "It was amazing to win, and the fact that my photo will be seen by so many people is brilliant, as I want to follow photography as a career.
"The picture is of my grandmother who recently lost her husband; it shows the loss of companionship."
Joanne had been shortlisted along with three others.
