FAMILIES enjoyed the fun at the Shergar Cup day at Ascot Racecourse, followed by an 80s concert.

There was plenty for youngsters to do at the day last Saturday, including taking part in football workshops run by Reading FC and cheerleading sessions led by The Cheerleading Company, star of TV show Pineapple Dance Studios.

In addition, bouncy castles, fairground rides and stalls kept the visitors entertained.

Burghfield Common receptionist Carmel McAllister, 40, whose children Amber, six and Aiden, three, had a go on some of the rides, said: "It's the first time we've been to a family day, it seems really, really good. The children have been having great fun. It's a really nice day out."

Louise Payne, 40, from Aldershot, went to the day with husband Martin and children Shannon, 10 and Kiera, eight. She said: "It's fab. The kids are having a really good time. So far it's been brilliant. I'm really looking forward to the concert."

The performance featured hit 80s artists, including Boy George, Johnny Hates Jazz, Cutting Crew, The Christians, Captain Sensible, Belinda Carlisle and Midge Ure.
