FAMILIES and foodies will be able to experience a range of cuisines at an annual festival.

The Wokingham Food and Drink Festival, which runs from August 27 to 29, will feature chef demonstrations, children's entertainment, product sampling, wine and beer tasting and live music.

The fourth annual festival takes place in Elms Field, Wokingham and specialist producers and suppliers from the area will be showcasing their produce alongside those from further afield.

Organiser Kate Lole said: "We had a fabulous turn out last year and we anticipate even more visitors this time.

"The festival is going from strength to strength and there really is something for everyone including Children's Corner for our younger visitors.

"We have our fingers crossed for lovely weather but everything is under cover so you can still eat, drink and listen to the music in comfort."

Chef Ryan Simpson will be demonstrating some of the skills that helped his team win a Michelin star earlier in the year and visitors will hear about Orwells, a restaurant he has recently opened in Shiplake village.

Tim Marlow manager of Wokingham restaurant Loch Fyne, will be among the range of businesses at the festival. He said: "The festival is very important for us because we are part of the community, we are supporting the town.

"As long as the weather holds out, we will be selling our products including plain salmon, presecco and Joseph Perrier champagne.

"It will be a fun and interactive event, we will be making sure everyone is having a good time!"

He added: "We are very much looking forward to supporting the youngsters with the Children's Corner."

The festival will run from 9am-6pm on Saturday, August 28 with live music from 6pm-10.30pm, and from 10am-5pm on Sunday, August 29.

Day tickets are £2 for those over 16 and evening tickets are £4, under 16s accompanied by an adult are free. To buy tickets and for a full programme of events, visit www.wokinghamfestival.co.uk
