A THIRD cat was attacked by a dog thought to be behind two other maulings on the same night.
Harmans Water resident Sue Clarkson contacted the News after reading about the attacks to say that her cat was also killed by a black Staffordshire terrier-type dog in east Bracknell on the evening of Tuesday, July 6.
She thinks that the dog that killed her cat, Patch, (pictured) in Harmans Water Road at 8pm was the same one that badly injured a cat in Forest Park at 7.45pm and killed another cat in Harmans Water at 8.45pm.
Mrs Clarkson, 50, said: "Something has to be done about it."
She said that she had been unable to get the sight of the dog mauling 15-year-old Patch out of her mind and said: "It's the way he died that I can't get over. My cat had never known that kind of pain. To come out and see that happening to your cat is horrible."
She added: "That dog really shouldn't be left running around the streets on its own."
Mrs Clarkson is now in touch with the owners of the attacked other cats, Sophie Everett and Andrea Bennett, and all three have been in contact with police, who are investigating the incidents.
Mrs Everett, whose 11-year-old cat Chunk died after he was attacked outside her home in Nightingale Crescent, Harmans Water, at 8.45pm, said: "My four-year-old son is still asking if his cat is coming back. It just breaks my heart."
Mrs Everett said that the owners are also considering taking legal action, seeking for the dog to be destroyed because they fear it could attack a child. In addition, they feel they should be compensated by the dog's owner for a combined total of more than £1,000 of vets' and cremation fees.
The women also want to hear, via the News on 01344 456611, from anyone else whose cat was attacked or who saw the attacks.
