Dragonflies and herons in the garden
DINOSAURS and 12 foot herons are just some of the delights that are on display during the Savill Garden's art week.
Sculptor Daren Greenhow will speak to the public about his unique creations made out of bicycle parts, including a 2.5 metre velociraptor sculpture made of bicycle parts, called a Veló-ciraptor, which plays on the French for bicycle - veló.
The activity week, which began on Monday and runs until this Sunday, July 25 will feature 17 of Mr Greenhow's works including his piece Pike on a Trike, which plays on the saying 'a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle' and uses bike gears for the fish's scales.
Mr Greenhow, who has been working full time as a sculptor for seven years, said: "My works are predominantly mythical and humorous and feature wildlife subjects.
"The main aspect of my work is the use of recycled bicycle materials, which comes from the fact that I am a keen cyclist. The works have an affinity to all ages because we have all ridden a bicycle and can recognise the parts in the pieces."
Throughout this weekend Mr Greenhow will demonstrate how he creates his sculptures by building some in front of visitors and invites budding artists to come along and see what is involved.
He added: "The Savill Garden is one of the nicest places to do an exhibition. It is a beautiful place and I think the work and the surroundings complement each other."
Children's activities and art courses will also take place this weekend where youngsters will get to explore creating their own sculpture creatures with the help of Mr Greenhow.
